Africa Collect Textiles (ACT)
WHAT IS ACT?
Africa Collect Textiles (ACT) is a Social Impact Enterprise based out of Kenya and building Circular Eco-systems for used textiles and textile waste in Africa. We are building circular eco-systems for fashion in Kenya and Nigeria by giving new life to old textiles!
WHAT WE DO?
We champion environmental conservation by enabling a circular economy for textiles and footwear. We utilize resources to their full potential, support communities that are affected by textile waste, and generate new jobs in collecting, sorting, and upcycling of used textiles.
WHY WE DO IT?
Kenya is spending 400 million USD to import 2nd hand clothes. By diverting unused textiles and footwear from the landfills, we support the environment and create jobs. The future of fashion is circular and Africa plays a vital role.
HOW WE DO IT?
Simple: By collecting used textiles and footwear. Each item is carefully sorted and assessed. Recyclable materials are repurposed into blankets, bags, carpets, clothing, and more. By collecting and recycling textiles, we generate funds to sustain our organization and support Matthew 25, a charitable organization for street children. The more textiles we process, the more jobs we create—and the more children we can help off the streets!
